Wardrobe Calculator
Calculate carcass boards, rail length, shelf area, drawer runners, hinge count and the hanging vs shelf split for fitted wardrobes.
Floor to ceiling or unit height
Standard: 600mm
% of width for hanging rail
How We Calculate This
This calculator works out the carcass boards, hanging rail, shelves, hinges and drawer runners for a fitted wardrobe based on dimensions and the hanging/shelf split.
The formula
Carcass area = 2 sides + Top + Bottom + Back
Sheets = Total area ÷ Sheet size (2.44 × 1.22m)
Rail length = Width × Hanging %
Hinges = Doors × 2 (or 3 for tall doors)
Standard dimensions
- Depth: 600mm (550mm internal minimum)
- Full-length hanging: 1,600mm clear height
- Half-length hanging: 900-1,000mm clear height
- Shelf spacing: 300-400mm between shelves
