Plant Hire Calculator

Estimate total plant hire costs including delivery, fuel, and operator

The supplier’s charge for one hire period (one day, one week or one month) before fuel, transport and operator.

How many hire periods. The hire rate is multiplied by this (e.g. 2 weeks = rate × 2).

How We Calculate This

Choose your hire period (daily, weekly or monthly) and enter the supplier's rate for one period, then the number of periods — hire and insurance waiver are charged per period. Fuel and operator are charged per working day: a day counts as 1 working day, a week as 5, and a month as roughly 22 (the UK average of ~21.7 working days per month, rounded up). Add one-off delivery and collection charges, the diesel cost per running hour, and working hours per day; if you are hiring an operator, add their hourly rate. The calculator sums every cost into a grand total, then divides it by the working days and productive hours to give a cost per day and per hour for job pricing and budgeting.
