How much extra do I need for herringbone parquet?

Allow 15% extra for herringbone pattern. The angled cuts at walls and borders create more waste than straight-lay flooring. Chevron patterns need 18% due to the angle-cut ends on every block.

How is parquet flooring fixed?

Parquet blocks are full stick-down using flexible flooring adhesive at approximately 1.0–1.5 kg/m². The adhesive is applied to the prepared subfloor with a notched trowel. Blocks are pressed into the adhesive.

What size are parquet blocks?

Traditional parquet blocks are typically 230mm × 70mm × 18mm (or 22mm thick). Modern engineered parquet comes in wider sizes up to 90mm wide and longer blocks up to 500mm.

Do I need primer before parquet adhesive?

On concrete subfloors, a primer/DPM is essential to prevent moisture damage. Apply at approximately 0.15 L/m² and allow to dry before adhesive. On plywood subfloors, primer is usually not required.

How many coats of lacquer does parquet need?

New parquet flooring needs 3 coats of lacquer (or oil finish): one seal coat and two topcoats. Sand lightly between coats with 120 grit. Each coat uses approximately 0.1 L/m².
