How We Calculate This

This calculator determines the components needed for a plastic inspection chamber based on cover and invert levels.

The formula

Chamber Depth = Cover Level - Invert Level

Risers Needed = ceil((Depth − Base Height − Benching Height) / Riser Height)

Components

  • Base unit: Pre-formed with benching and inlets (benched at 1 in 12 to AD H para 2.53)
  • Risers: 150mm height increments (450mm dia) — adjust in advanced options
  • Reducing ring: 350mm restricted opening, required by AD H Table 11 once depth exceeds 1.2m
  • Cover & frame: Rated to loading class (BS EN 124: A15 1.5t, B125 12.5t, D400 40t)

Chamber base heights (0.25m, or 0.35m for 600mm) are typical manufacturer values — confirm against your supplier’s product data.
