How We Calculate This
This calculator estimates the number of kitchen units needed based on your room layout and run lengths. It calculates base units, wall units, tall units, corner units, filler panels and all associated hardware.
How it works
- Base units: Total run length divided by unit width, minus space for corner units, sink unit and oven housing
- Wall units: Run length minus window and oven housing areas, divided by unit width
- Corner units: One per corner in L-shape or U-shape layouts, consuming 900mm per side
- Hardware: Hinges calculated at 2-3 per door, handles for all doors plus drawer fronts
Quantities are based on standard UK kitchen unit sizes from major suppliers. Always consult your kitchen designer for exact specifications.
