How We Calculate This

This calculator determines the block count, courses, worktop area, mortar and foundation concrete for a three-sided outdoor kitchen plinth. It also gives a rough drain-pipe run allowance — gas, electrical and drainage gradients are covered in the FAQs as guidance rather than calculated quantities.

Block plinth

Courses = ceil(Height / (Block Height + Joint))
Blocks = Blocks per Course x 3 Sides x Courses x (1 + Wastage%)
Three-sided plinth using 440 x 215 x 100mm dense concrete blocks.

Worktop

Worktop Area = Total Length x Plinth Depth
Allow 25-50mm overhang each side. Foundation at 150mm depth over compacted sub-base.
