Conservatory Base Calculator — Foundation & Slab Quantities

Calculate conservatory foundation concrete, slab thickness, DPM, hardcore, edge insulation and dwarf wall brickwork for UK conservatory bases.

Brick count is for a SINGLE brick leaf at 60 bricks/m² (stretcher bond, 75mm/course). For a cavity dwarf wall, double this for the outer + inner leaf, or add a separate blockwork inner-leaf allowance.

How We Calculate This

This calculator estimates material quantities for a conservatory base construction based on plan dimensions and shape.

Foundation

Strip footing at 450mm wide x foundation depth around the perimeter. Concrete volume includes overpour allowance.

Slab buildup

Hardcore (150mm) + sand blinding (25mm minimum; 50mm over coarse hardcore) + DPM + concrete slab (100mm, GEN3 / C20/25 designated mix to BS 8500-1) + edge insulation around the perimeter.

Shape estimates

Rectangular and Edwardian (square-front) plans give exact quantities. Victorian and P-shape figures are approximate geometric estimates — measure the actual faceted footprint for an exact order. The dwarf wall brick count is for a single brick leaf; double it (plus a blockwork inner leaf) for a cavity dwarf wall.
