Recycled Aggregate Calculator

Compare recycled vs virgin aggregate costs and performance

How We Calculate This

Enter the volume of aggregate needed and the per-tonne costs for virgin and recycled options. The calculator converts volume to tonnes using the bulk density of each type (tonnes = volume × density), calculates total cost, and shows the saving. The CBR figures are shown for material comparison only - they do not drive a thickness adjustment, because under DMRB CD225 foundation thickness is designed against the subgrade CBR, not the relative CBR of the sub-base products. The embodied-carbon estimate uses ICE database factors of about 5 kgCO2e/tonne for both virgin and recycled crushed aggregate (near parity); the result is indicative only, as the real benefit depends on avoided quarrying and haul distance.
