Drywall & Plasterboard in UK Construction
Plasterboard (also known as drywall or gypsum board) is the most widely used wall and ceiling lining material in UK construction. Standard boards are available in 2400x1200mm and 3000x1200mm sheets, with thicknesses of 9.5mm, 12.5mm, and 15mm. Popular brands include British Gypsum (Gyproc), Knauf, and Siniat.
Drylining is the process of fixing plasterboard to walls or ceilings using either a metal or timber stud frame, or dot-and-dab adhesive. Joints between boards are typically finished with paper tape and jointing compound for a seamless finish.
